It has a broad, horizontally oriented rounded body, and the lower half of the body is encircled by gentle ridges resembling lotus petals. Circular ears are set at each side of the shoulder, and the flat lid is fitted with a lotus-bud-shaped knob at its center. Width 20cm, height 14cm. Its surface displays the soft texture of earthenware, distinct from that of iron kettles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe body is principally a pale gray-brown, with patches of reddening and firing coloration. The surface preserves fine undulations and traces of the maker’s hand, lending an unpretentious, rustic character typical of white slip.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lid is shallow and fits neatly; the finial is incised with vertical grooves. The lotus-petal-shaped ridges on the lower half of the body and the lotus-bud-shaped finial on the lid come together, giving this small tea kettle a harmonious, well-balanced form.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is a repair to the lid. Soot deposits are visible on the lower half.
