A thick blue-gray glaze has been applied over a grayish-white body; a fine network of crackle (crazing) extends across the entire surface, producing a patina of age. Darker crackle appears in places, lending a sense of depth. The form is complete and substantial, the high foot being relatively tall—a distinguishing feature. The foot is neatly finished, and the exposed clay at the foot rim reveals a hard fabric; traces of sand are also visible around the foot. These characteristics are typical of the regional folk kilns associated with the Longquan kiln tradition that flourished from the Yuan to Ming periods (circa 14th–15th centuries), centered on the Minqing kilns of Fujian.

A tea bowl of the same hand is listed in the catalogue Chawanshō, Part II (Giichiro Kato) as Goryeo celadon, but it should properly be regarded as an example belonging to the Longquan kiln lineage. Though its form is archaic and unpretentious, it possesses a measured dignity; its condition is also good, making it an excellent object both for use in the tea ceremony and for aesthetic appreciation.

Comes with a wooden box. No chips or restorations.
