The bamboo surface retains fine carving marks and a texture reminiscent of woven patterns, and displays a warm reddish sheen and a matured, weathered patina developed through long use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIts low profile and the soft contours of a lotus form make it well suited to being used as a kensui (waste-water receptacle) in the tearoom.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSome insect damage is evident, but it does not form large holes through to the reverse, and the overall condition is good.
