While bearing the neat restraint characteristic of Joseon white porcelain, the jar also conveys an approachable simplicity reminiscent of everyday vessels.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe glaze is a pale, slightly bluish white, and the surface shows fine crazing with occasional iron specks and small kiln spots. Though an unadorned white porcelain, soft shadows appear with changes in light, lending the vessel’s surface a sense of depth. Around the foot the clay texture and kiln traces remain clearly visible, conveying the quiet patina of aged Joseon white porcelain. Near the midsection of the body there is a seam where the upper and lower parts were joined during forming; it has been well smoothed but is discernible under certain lighting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith a height of 34cm, it has a commanding presence. The shadows that descend from the foot to the swelling of the body convey a profound stillness.
