old straw knit object

The woven straw is folded in half and tied with straw. It looks like something is packed inside.
I think it was originally a storage case like a rag seen in the Edo period, or a rug of some kind.

It has a timeless beauty that has been used many times.
How about using it as an object, a flower stand, or a tea rug?
