Ko-tanba four-eared jar Edo/1603-1867CE

Tanba-yaki is a type of pottery produced around Imada-cho, Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. It has a long history, dating back about 850 years, and is said to be from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period, and is counted as one of the six ancient kilns of Japan. In the early Edo period, potter's wheel, earthenware and ash glaze were used, and new products were made. This product is a four-eared jar with iron glaze over red clay and has ears.

Over time, the iron glaze has worn off, giving this piece a rustic earthy texture. It looks like it attracts flowers. Comes with a bamboo tube dropper.
