LONG-NECKED JAR, Sue Ware, Asuka Period(592–710CE)
Among the various forms of Sue ware, the long-necked jar is a relatively recent addition that emerged around the 7th century. Characterized by a high foot that flares outward in a gentle 'V' shape, it features a small body and an elongated neck, creating a vessel of striking tension. The beautiful natural glaze that remains on the surface contrasts elegantly with the hard, blackened texture of the Sue ware, presenting a captivating visual harmony. This piece is in excellent condition and is a remarkable heirloom. Accompanied by a wooden box.
