An ash-glazed bottle with an underglaze iron-painted grass motif from the Goryeo period.

This bottle has a slightly narrow, upward-rising neck and a gently swelling body, harmoniously proportioned. The rim opens outward subtly, giving the piece an overall unforced, graceful profile.

An ash-green glaze envelops the entire surface, and a grass motif in underglaze iron is simply rendered on the body. The brushwork does not strive for decorative effect; with swift strokes it captures the flow of the blades, adding a light, lively movement to the composed vessel form.

Fine crazing traverses the glaze, and a lustrous aged patina, formed over many years, suffuses the entire surface. Kiln scars, areas of glaze loss, and small stone-pits are also visible, yet these features harmonize naturally as part of the piece’s original firing. The base is left exposed, with pronounced wheel-throwing marks and firing traces clearly preserved.

This bottle combines the quiet presence characteristic of Goryeo ceramics with a sweeping, expressive brushstroke. Its calm dignity makes it equally suitable for arranging flowers or for display on its own.
