船のような形状に刳り出された花入です。側面から底面全体の放射状に線画は、虫喰無垢痕です。ちょうど樹皮の下にこのような紋様が現れることはあるのですが、ここまでのものは非常に珍しいものでしょう。
上部中央の窪みは、花受けとなっており、水を入れて使うことができます。ちょうど藪椿の枝がありましたので、参考写真として、掲載しております。
