JAR, Ban Chiang Black Pottery with Incised Design, Ancient (3rd–12th centuries)

In recent years, Ban Chiang pottery has gained significant recognition in Japan, and this piece is a black pottery vessel adorned with intricate incised designs that cover its entire circumference.

While the dating and stylistic evolution of this type of pottery remain somewhat elusive, it is believed that such black ceramics, featuring incised patterns, were produced during the early Ban Chiang period around the first millennium BCE.

The wavy incised motifs are skillfully carved, and the delicate lines were applied using tools resembling seashells, resulting in a harmonious and well-proportioned vessel.
It is in excellent condition and highly recommended for collectors.
