沖縄の屋根職人が、余った瓦と漆喰で家主さんにお礼の意味をこめて漆喰シーサーを製作する風習がありました。
本品は、明治頃の初期漆喰シーサーの頭部です。実に柔和でおもしろい表情をしています。これが屋根の上に乗っていたことを想像すると、ぐっときました。オブジェとしていかがでしょう。
