Sung Dynasty Hu Lu Gray Glazed Small Pot, 12th-16th century

Ceramics fired at the ancient kiln site of Suankhalok in Thailand from the 14th century onwards were imported to Japan from the Momoyama period to the early Edo period, and were called Song Kuroku and Sunkorok. It is said that tea masters at the time prized them as tea utensils. Sunkorok produced many works that imitated the celadon and blue and white patterns of the Longquan kilns of the Song and Yuan dynasties in China, and mainly produced semi-porcelain clay with grey celadon glaze, iron painting and white paint. This is an attractive small vase with a nice atmosphere created by the grey glaze. It would also make a great flower vase.
