A set of five lotus‑petal–shaped tea saucers in antique tin, inlaid with assorted pictorial designs, Qing dynasty.
The tea saucer is formed in a horizontally elongated lotus‑petal shape, with faint decoration on the left and right faces; the motifs vary slightly between individual examples. Some details are difficult to discern in the photographs, but the designs are believed to depict plants and flowers.
The form is slightly deep, sized to suit small sencha bowls or white porcelain cups. As a sencha implement, it also pairs well with the small teacups used for Chinese teas. Each piece bears an inscription on the underside. A wooden box is included.
The tin surface exhibits age-related dulling, scuffs, fine scratches, and discoloration. An appealing antique tin tea saucer with a pleasing, well-aged character.
