During the Yayoi Period, earthenware was produced in standardized forms such as jars, pots, and bowls, tailored to various uses. This tradition persisted for a millennium, coinciding with the introduction and establishment of rice cultivation through paddy farming.

This piece is a bowl-shaped earthenware vessel with a wide, open form reminiscent of a tea bowl. Its irregular shape, the rich texture of aged clay, and subtle imperfections contribute to its profound charm and serene presence.
