鎌倉時代頃の、古瀬戸の合子の台です。
本来は蓋を伴う小さな合子であったものの、現在は身のみが残されています。
手のひらに収まる小さな寸法ながら、胴はぐにゃりと歪み、口縁も不均一に揺らいでいます。その崩れた造形に、古瀬戸らしい土と釉の力がよく残っています。
肌には白く荒れた土味と、淡い緑を帯びた釉だまりが見られます。焼成の中で流れ、残った釉の景色が、小さな器のなかに古窯の気配を凝縮しています。ところどころに石はぜや荒れがあり、鎌倉陶らしい粗く力のある表情です。
底には小さな穴がありますが、釉がかかっています。掌中に古窯の気配を留めた、香合に見立てたくなる小品です。
