明末～清代に中国の南部で生産された交趾焼は、青，黄，緑，紫などの釉を用いて三彩釉に似たやわらかみのある色調が特徴です。江戸時代に日本へ渡ってからは、釉薬や意匠を写し京焼に取り入れられました。
本品もその流れの中で製作されたくったりとした青交趾が印象的な横手急須です。
花弁を模したつまみ、胴・手・口の面取りの造形など、見所があります。
高台に古いあたり傷、茶渋汚れがありますが、大変状態がよく大切に使われてきたことがうかがえます。
茶会や日々の茶器としていかがでしょう。
