須恵質土器の文人像です。こちらは、土師器質というより、高温で焼き締められており、須恵器質の土器で、おそらく赤焼けしたものではないかと考えています。朝鮮半島の石人像に似た風貌を持ちながらも、土器質での類例が見つからず、特定には至っていません。
土器特有の土臭は、水滴をつけると穏やかに立ち上り、古い土器ならではの趣を感じさせます。表面には古い酸化した砂がわずかに付着しており、長い年月を経た風合いが魅力的です。
柔和で穏やかな表情、素朴ながらも洗練された石人の造形は、静かに佇みながらも存在感があります。
