This is an antique iron ladle from 17th century India. Crafted solely from a high-purity iron rod, this ladle exemplifies an extraordinary level of craftsmanship that is nearly unimaginable by modern standards. When we create something, it is instinctive to envision the whole and the end goal; however, when observing Indian craftsmanship, each piece appears distinct and individualistic, suggesting a focus on the immediate task at hand rather than the overall composition. It can be said that this represents a form of craftsmanship that is alive in the present moment. This realization has deepened my appreciation for the intricacies of Indian artistry.
