This woven straw object, crafted during the Meiji Period (1868–1912 CE), is elegantly folded and gently tied with the same straw cord. Traces of former contents suggest that it may have served as a storage container akin to the Edo-period kamasu, or perhaps as a mat.

Over the years, the color of the straw has deepened, and the looseness and wear of the weave impart a rustic charm. The marks of use have become an integral part of its form, embodying a sincere beauty.
