Qing Purple Sand Vase Gurindama Teapot Qing Dynasty/1616-1911CE

This teapot is made of purple clay and was brought to Japan during the Qing Dynasty. It has a shape called "Gurindama". The Guuridama was the most popular design at the time, and is unadorned, practical and beautiful in its simplicity. This teapot, inherited from a Sencha tea maker, has been used carefully for many years, and as a result, it has a unique texture.

This teapot is small in size and very suitable for brewing Chinese tea. Its exquisite size fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. The potter's finger marks remain on the inside of the pot. Traces of the pot's pasting can be seen just by the handle. These marks are a characteristic often seen in teapots from that time.

There is a hole on the underside of the lid, but this is not unusual for a Zisha teapot of this age, and rather gives the impression of the time spent brewing tea. Zisha teapots change the way you use them, making them a special tool for making your everyday tea even more enjoyable.
