The iron-rich base clay is coated with white clay with a brush or cloth, and the peony arabesque pattern is scraped off with a spatula. It is a style that came to be seen from Karatsu around the early Edo period, and it is a copy of a Chinese Ming sancai jar with a peony design and five ears. It was used as a container for medicinal herbs and tea leaves. How about a maturing jar for tea leaves?
