The Khmer ceramics, produced during the flourishing of the Khmer Empire, centered in present-day Cambodia, initially featured ash-glazed pottery, with brown-glazed wares becoming prominent around the 12th century. Small items such as shallow dishes and small jars adorned with brown glaze are frequently found within Khmer pottery. This particular piece, characterized by its flat base rising to a gently flared body and a crescent-shaped cup, is an exquisite example that invites the imagination to envision it as a sake cup.
