A small, shallow bowl with a thick, rounded rim and a low footring.
The glaze ranges from ash‑white to a pale yellowish tone, and the interior presents a calm expanse of white glaze. On the exterior, reddish soil staining remains, and adhering deposits believed to derive from excavation are visible around the footring.
In the Song–Yuan period, white‑glazed bowls were often produced locally as everyday wares alongside more refined white porcelains.
This bowl, rather than presenting a pure, clear white, displays a gray‑tinged glaze, a slight warp, and a footring bearing traces of iron‑rich soil, which together lend it the composed character of an antique vessel. Though small, the bowl has a substantial presence in the thickness of its rim and its low footring, offering a satisfying hand‑feel.
In the interior there are fine iron spots and light earthen staining, and the glaze shows small firing blemishes and fine craquelure.
Within the footring, reddish-brown clay deposits and black iron stains remain. Overall, the piece remains in a settled condition for an antique ceramic.
It may also be used as a stand for Chinese tea or sencha vessels.
