宋代の白釉碗です。
口縁を丸くおさめた碗形で、低い高台が付いています。
内外に白釉がかかり、釉面には黒褐色の細かな斑が広がっています。
この斑は施文ではなく、土中にあった白釉が変質したものです。
白釉の表面に土中成分との反応が生じ、霜斑状の肌となっています。
見込みには円圏状の段があり、釉面には貫入、土錆、付着物が見られます。
高台まわりは露胎となり、赤土色の土錆が残っています。口縁には擦れがあり、全体に出土手のカセがあります。
中国茶や煎茶の瓶座として見立ててもよいでしょう。
