In Seto, small jars adorned with ash glaze or iron glaze are referred to as "ko-tsubo" or "mame-tsubo," depending on their size. These diminutive vessels emerged concurrently with the advent of tenmoku tea bowls, both characterized by their delicate craftsmanship and understood as early examples of tea containers. This particular piece is a somewhat uniquely shaped ash-glazed small jar. It seems to reveal the essence of the object, stripped bare by the passage of centuries. It invites the presence of flowers.
