Dating from the Showa era, these are antique glass cups.
A small set of four, their size makes them well suited to sencha, chilled tea, or use as sake vessels.

The semi-translucent white glass is interspersed with fine air bubbles that, when struck by light, impart a softly diffused expression. Not perfectly clear, the glass retains a slight cloudiness; when held, one perceives the delicate waviness characteristic of antique glass.

The form is a simple cylinder, the rim opening only slightly outward and the area around the foot gently narrowed. Modest in appearance, when tea is poured its color shows through softly, overlapping with the glass’s whiteness to create a cool, refreshing scene.

It complements green tea and chilled tea alike, and is also well suited to plain hot water or fruit liqueurs. A piece of antique glass quietly introduced into seasonal tea settings.
