This is a piece of Delft pottery from the late 17th to early 18th century. It is a remarkably rare example of blackened Delftware, characterized by its unique surface coloration. Many white Delft ceramics, which achieve their hue through the addition of tin to a transparent glaze, are often found as archaeological artifacts. It is known that when these ceramics react with iron and sulfur compounds in the ground, the glaze can transform into black or dark tones.

Due to recent circumstances, acquiring Delft pottery has become increasingly challenging. Furthermore, blackened Delftware is particularly scarce and seldom appears on the market. We encourage you to consider adding this exceptional piece to your collection.

While a one-hour water leakage test showed no signs of leakage, please note that due to its age, we cannot guarantee it against prolonged exposure to water.
