An old Shigaraki cypress wall jar from the Muromachi period.
A typical vase shape with a slightly thick mouth and neck with a double mouth, a gentle bulge from the shoulder to the body, and a slight constriction to the bottom. The cypress pattern boldly drawn on the shoulder with a thick spatula gives strength to this small pot. The surface of the vessel skin is cold and dried old Shigaraki with a strong white color. The mouth is open, and there is a subtle and profound appearance in the simplicity. The bottom is a geta sole, and the kiln mark is engraved on the shoulder.
