Delft flat-rimmed white-glazed pot, 16th-19th century

White Delftware from the Age of Discovery. Originally made as ointment containers, in Japan they have been highly valued since the Edo period as tea ceremony utensils, such as cups and water jars. The soft surface of the soft earthenware, like yogurt poured over it, the smooth feel, and the rich, nuanced expression that seems to cast shadows have a timeless beauty.
The glaze on the surface has peeled off, creating an irresistible atmosphere. This piece is 18th century white Delftware with a flat rim, and has an idyllic appearance. We have posted a photo of it as a tea caddy. Please take a look.
