This is a green-glazed vessel from the Han Dynasty (202 BCE–220 CE). During this period, the first true celadon wares emerged in the history of Chinese ceramics, alongside the production of ash-glazed pottery, polychrome gray pottery, black pottery, and lead-glazed ceramics. Transitioning from the bronze culture that flourished from the Shang and Zhou dynasties through the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the Han Dynasty witnessed a technological innovation in the firing of celadon, resulting in a diverse array of ceramic forms and techniques.

This piece is a rare tripod cauldron, exhibiting a beautiful iridescence in its green glaze, which presents a captivating visual effect. It is said that the natural silvering observed in the glaze takes hundreds of years to develop.

Accompanied by a white clay trivet, this piece is designed to evoke a hearth. It is intended for enjoyment in a tea ceremony setting.
Please note that ash is not included, so kindly prepare your own.
