This is a misshapen glass bottle from 18th to 19th century Holland.

It was acquired during a period of enthusiastic collection of excavated glass bottles. Initially, I was captivated by the craftsmanship of 19th-century utilitarian glassware. However, I eventually realized that objects discarded underground, weathered by time, had transformed into something that transcended their original purpose.

Since then, I have focused on collecting items that are warped or distorted. Such pieces are exceedingly rare, and this bottle is one I encountered during that journey. Its graceful curves, originally an error in production, and the milky translucence with a subtle silvering texture evoke an undeniable presence. Might it serve as an intriguing objet d'art?
