In ancient China, jade was highly valued and considered a symbol of luxury and noble status. Jade objects such as vessels, decorations, and jade seals were elaborately decorated and highly prized. Large jade faces like this piece were extremely rare and valuable. This particular face is made of green jade and features a male motif. It was unearthed in Henan province and has undergone discoloration to a white-black-brown color due to the acidic soil. It comes with a wooden box.
