Old Tokoname Three-mouthed Large Bowl, Kamakura Period/1185-1333CE

This is an old Tokoname large bowl with three spouts. Judging from the lack of a foot and the shape of the three spouts, it is believed to date from the mid-Kamakura to Muromachi periods. Katakuchi bowls with a single spout are well known, but three spouted bowls are rare. Large bowls in Bizen and Echizen have had what are known as oroshime engraved on them since the 13th century, but large bowls in Tokoname have never had oroshime engraved on them throughout the ages. Apart from its use as a lid for the outer container of a sutra tube, it may have also served as a practical bowl for kneading or kneading. There is a skein and a skein. Please see the photo. I filled it with water for 24 hours and there was no noticeable leakage. You can also use it as a water basin, and wild flowers and branches will look great. It is also recommended to use it as a bottle holder by laying ash on it.
