Furu-Seto products are made for the Kamakura Gozan, the Shogunate, and the samurai class, which were established through the introduction of Song-style Zen. This product has an old-fashioned form in which the edge stands straight. The bottom is a carved foot, and the glaze is blackish-brown Furuseto glaze. It must have been a piece that had been discarded at the kiln site and then rejoined. It has a rustic appearance that invites flowers.
