奈良から平安時代頃の須恵器の碗です。
定形とは異なる碗形で、茶碗としてだけでなく、水滴としても見立てたくなります。
土から起き、火中をくぐり、長い時を経て残された古窯の気配。厚く引かれた胴には二条の沈線がめぐり、簡素ながら力のある姿を見せています。須恵器らしい灰褐色の肌には、窯中で受けた火の痕跡や、土に含まれる小石、焼き締まりのむらがそのまま残り、古代陶らしい粗く静かな表情があります。
口縁はやや楕円に歪み、胴にもわずかな揺らぎがあります。口縁に古い直しがあります。匙を添えた、水滴としての見立て写真も追加しておりますので、ぜひご覧ください。
