Each piece is carefully packed for international delivery.
This mizuya tansu was constructed from dismantled water-wheel boards dating to approximately 300 years ago and assembled from well‑seasoned reclaimed timber.
Originally used in a tearoom, it was later employed for many years by an antiques dealer as a furnishing for display.
The board surfaces bear traces of prolonged water exposure, and butterfly-shaped repair keys and wooden pegs—used to secure cracks and knots—remain in numerous places.
The pronounced wood grain and the gradations of dark patina reveal layers of time accrued through successive repairs.
At a compact width of 76 cm, it sits neatly in a tea room, an alcove, or beside an entrance, serving both storage and decorative purposes.
The material’s origins and provenance intertwine, lending the piece a distinctive presence.
