This bronze covered box, with its weathered patina, exudes a profound sense of history. It is associated with "kinma," a decorative technique that became popular in Southeast Asia around the 11th century, and this piece served as a lime container for kinma. Similar artifacts have been unearthed from Khmer-era sites in Cambodia. This particular item is likely from the Sukhothai period (13th–16th centuries). Due to its finial and elegant form, it has also been referenced in Japanese antique texts as a relic container. Please note that the lid is adhered to the body.
