14世紀以降にタイの古窯場スワンカロークで焼かれた陶器は、桃山時代から江戸初期にかけて日本に舶載され、宋胡禄・寸古録（スンコロク）と呼び、当時の茶人たちは茶道具に見立てて珍重したと伝えられています。スンコロクは、中国の宋や元代の龍泉窯系統の青磁、青花を写した作品が非常に多く、半磁器胎土に灰青磁釉、鉄絵、そして白化粧を主に生産していました。本品は鉄絵で素朴な文様が描かれた蓋付きの香合です。時代を経て、枯れ、ほつれが、いい味わいになっています。
