A pale celadon bowl.

The bowl has a shallow, refined form, with a thin rim that flares outward and a body that settles neatly into the foot.
The glaze is chiefly white with a faint bluish cast. The interior presents a smooth glazed surface, while the exterior displays a gray-blue glaze tone overlain by reddish soil staining presumed to result from burial.

Pale celadon is a ceramic in which the pure clarity of white porcelain is subtly suffused with a delicate blue cast in the glaze.
In this bowl, without applied decoration, the gently flaring, shallow form and the glaze itself are presented. Traces of the clay remain around the foot, providing a pleasing contrast with the interior's pale bluish-white surface.

Small iron spots and glaze irregularities are present on the interior, and the glazed surface shows fine abrasions, kiln marks, and soil staining.
Around the foot the body is exposed, with remnants of red-brown clay adhering. As an antique ceramic, it retains a calm, stable condition.

It may also be regarded as a stand for Chinese tea or for sencha vessels.
