This is an early gray glaze known as proto-celadon from ancient China. Crafted during the Spring and Warring States period in the Jiangnan region, this bowl features a distinctive gray earthenware body, with the celadon glaze having flaked away to reveal the underlying clay. The piece is well-fired, showcasing the beauty of the gray earthenware tea bowl. Its elegant form represents one of the earliest examples of the cylindrical tea bowl, making it a perfect vessel for tea or floral arrangements.
