This is an early Joseon period hard pottery jar, characterized by its substantial and weighty form, known as a "sampan jar" due to its flattened shape.
It features a lacquered lid and has been utilized as a mizusashi (water container).

It can also be appreciated as a kensui (waste water vessel) during the serving of sencha or Chinese tea.
