This exquisite piece, known as a Moon Jar, is a remarkable example of mid-Joseon period craftsmanship, characterized by its elegant white porcelain. During the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897 CE), Confucian ideals profoundly influenced the arts, leading to a preference for the pure beauty of unadorned white porcelain, which was deemed most appropriate in accordance with Confucian sensibilities.

The term "Moon Jar" (Taruhana-ri) refers to its round and substantial form, reminiscent of a full moon. Its soft, flowing curves and robust body create a harmonious balance of grandeur and tranquility. Such forms were predominantly produced in the 17th century.

This particular jar is in excellent condition, retaining its nearly flawless form. Standing at an impressive height of 52 cm, it is a large Moon Jar that exudes a remarkable presence.
