During the Edo Period, there was a custom of dyeing teeth black using a liquid known as iron glaze (ohaguro). The small vessels used to hold this liquid were referred to as ohaguro-tsubo. While Echizen is well-known for such pieces, this particular item is a Ko-Seto ohaguro-tsubo, adorned with fittings for hanging flowers, making it an exquisite vessel for displaying wild blooms. It has been cherished in tea rooms and is perfect for daily floral arrangements. Rest assured, it is free from any leaks.
