The clay of Karatsu is characterized by a coarse texture, interspersed with grains of sand, evoking a natural sensation reminiscent of the earth when touched.
This piece is a dish from the Yoshinomoto kiln, dating to the early Edo period, which has been beautifully repaired using the Kintsugi technique. Its rim features an organic undulation, and the asymmetrical shape adds to its captivating allure. For documentation purposes, a label inscribed with "Yoshinomoto kiln" is affixed, but it can be easily removed with washing.
Measuring approximately the size of a small bowl, it is perfect for serving a single dish.
It can also serve as a tea vessel.
