This is a misshapen glass bottle from 18th-19th century Holland.
It was acquired during a period of enthusiastic collection of excavated glass bottles. Initially drawn to the charm of 19th-century utilitarian glass craftsmanship, I eventually realized that objects discarded underground and weathered over time had transformed into something beyond their original purpose.
Since then, I have focused on collecting such warped and distorted pieces. These items are exceedingly rare, and this particular glass bottle is one I encountered during that journey. Its sinuous curves and the fact that it was originally an error bottle evoke an undeniable presence, enhanced by the subtle silvering of its surface. Might it serve as an intriguing objet d'art?
