During the Western Han Dynasty, jade held immense value in ancient China, symbolizing luxury and the status of the nobility. Jade artifacts included vessels, ornaments, and seals, all adorned with exquisite decorations. Among these, large jade faces, such as this piece, are exceptionally rare. Crafted from green jade, it features a motif representing a male visage. Excavated from the Henan region, it has undergone some discoloration to shades of black, white, and brown due to the acidic soil conditions.
