A small jar with a rounded, swelling body and a short, upright mouth. The rim is slightly oval and the body gently rounded; despite its modest scale, it conveys the simple, weighty presence characteristic of ancient ceramics.

The vessel originally bore a green glaze, but over the long course of time the glaze surface has considerably weathered, leaving a mottled interplay of exposed clay and residual glaze. Green glaze survives around the rim and on the shoulder, and patches of silver-grey sheen from silvering are visible in places. With the glaze abraded and the character of the clay brought to the fore, layers of green, grey-white, and brown overlap to form a quiet, contemplative scene.

The vessel takes a plain jar form; its low, spreading body and small mouth are well balanced, making it easy to place on a shelf or in a corner of a tea display. Rather than a vividly colored green glaze, faint green tones and areas of silvering emerge within the subdued surface, imparting the quiet appeal characteristic of ancient ceramics.
