This large spouted bowl, crafted in the ancient style of Ko-Tokoname during the Heian to Kamakura periods (794–1333 CE), features a raised foot. Unlike typical spouted bowls from Tokoname, this piece does not serve as a mortar; rather, it was utilized for various purposes, including as a cooking vessel or as a lid for a sutra container. Its understated elegance embodies the restrained tension characteristic of the Heian period. This piece also lends itself beautifully to being envisioned as a hibachi.
