平安時代後期から鎌倉時代初期の古常滑の山茶椀です。焼き物としては山茶碗にも分類できそうですが、平安時代後期（11世紀後半）に始まり、戦国時代初め頃（15世紀後半）まで約400年間に渡って生産された無釉の素朴な焼き物です。灰釉陶器の量産が進んで高級品から普段使いの品へと変わりゆく中で、誕生した普段使いの焼き物でした。本品はぐにゃりと変形した縁を持つ茶陶の気配を持つ器形、茶壺をおけば茶船としてもお楽しみいただけます。木箱が付属します。
