During the Yayoi Period, earthenware was produced in standardized forms such as jars, large pots, and bowls, tailored to various uses. This tradition persisted for a millennium, coinciding with the introduction and establishment of rice cultivation through paddy farming.

This piece is a fragment from the lower section of a jar-shaped earthenware vessel, characterized by its rounded body and flared rim. The irregular bowl shape, the earthy texture developed over time, and the subtle fraying all contribute to its profound charm and serene presence.
